Eastwood

A student suburb with settled families in it

Eastwood carries two migration profiles at once. Macquarie Park next door makes it a student and graduate area, while long-settled households are working on the family side — parents to sponsor, a partner offshore, a second-stage application due. Those need quite different advice, and we would rather not treat them as one thing.

Students and graduates

Subclass 500 conditions and course progress, provider transfers done in the right order, and subclass 485 timed from course completion for graduates of Macquarie University and nearby providers.

Working in Macquarie Park

The technology and pharmaceutical employers next door sponsor regularly. Subclass 482 nomination and the permanent 186 route, weighed against applying on points under 189 or 190.

Sponsoring parents

Honest timeframes for the parent visa categories before you spend anything, and where a sponsored family visitor visa is the realistic interim step.

Partner applications

Onshore 820 then 801, offshore 309 then 100, including second-stage applications that are quietly coming due.

What we advise on

The pathways we handle for Eastwood clients

Every card states who it suits and the usual sticking point. Full detail is on the immigration services page.

Student visa

500

Full-time study with a registered provider. Course choice that stands up to scrutiny, the Confirmation of Enrolment, and the conditions attached to the grant.

Suits
New and continuing students
Watch
Course progress and attendance under condition 8202

Temporary Graduate

485

Stay and work after a qualifying Australian qualification. The window is timed from meeting your course requirements, not from the graduation ceremony.

Suits
Recent graduates
Watch
Applying late — the most common way this visa is lost

Skilled migration

189 · 190

Points-tested permanent residence, with or without state nomination. Skills assessment comes first, and the occupation you nominate shapes everything after it.

Suits
Skilled applicants with assessable occupations
Watch
Points claimed but not evidenced

Partner visa

820/801 · 309/100

Onshore or offshore, in two stages. Assessed across the financial aspects of the relationship, the household, social recognition and mutual commitment.

Suits
Spouses and de facto partners
Watch
The second stage is not automatic

Employer sponsored

482 · 186

Sponsored temporary work, and the employer-nominated permanent route. Your status depends on the sponsoring employment, which is the risk worth understanding first.

Suits
Applicants with a willing employer
Watch
Occupation list and salary thresholds

Skills assessment

Step one

The mandatory first step for skilled migration, done through the assessing authority for your occupation. We work with the major assessing bodies regularly.

How we work

Four steps, and you know where you stand at step two

You should know whether an application is viable before you spend money on it. If it is not yet, we say so and set out what would change that.

  1. 01

    Tell us your situation

Visa status, qualifications, work history, family. The enquiry form below covers most of it.

  2. 02

    Consultation and assessment

A registered agent maps your realistic options, the evidence needed, and the honest timeline — including the case for not applying yet.

  3. 03

A written quote, then the work

Fixed professional fees agreed before anything starts. Document preparation, drafting and lodgement.

  4. 04

    Through to the decision

We respond to requests from the Department and keep you informed until the outcome, rather than going quiet after lodgement.

Questions

Eastwood, specifically

General guidance only, and immigration policy changes. Your own circumstances are assessed in a consultation.

No. Our Sydney offices are in the CBD at 50 Clarence Street and in Parramatta. Eastwood station is on the T9 Northern Line with a direct run into the city, and Parramatta is a short drive west and open until 6pm.
Not currently. We advise in English, with support available in Japanese, Hindi and Punjabi, and you are welcome to bring a family member or interpreter. We would rather tell you now than have you find out in the meeting.
The window runs from when you meet your course requirements, not from the graduation ceremony, and it is limited. Bring your completion letter as soon as you receive it — late applications are the most common way this visa is simply lost.
Years, and the answer varies a lot between the parent visa categories. We would rather set that out honestly at the start, along with whether a sponsored family visitor visa makes sense while you wait.
Yes. The permanent 801 stage is not automatic — it generally becomes assessable two years after the original application and needs fresh evidence covering the period since. If you are not sure where yours stands, that is worth a consultation on its own.
MARN 1793706 on the MARA Register of Migration Agents, and QEAC 1942 on the education side. Both are public, and worth checking for any agent you deal with.
